Design Talks NYC

Clare Miflin

Clare is an architect with a clear sense of purpose, skilled at leading a team to achieve exemplary goals. A practical idealist, she combines high level systems-thinking with the on-the-ground problem solving necessary to catalyze real change. As Associate Principal at Kiss + Cathcart, Architects she helped develop their philosophy of “productive” architecture to provide human, environmental and economic benefits. Clare initiated and led the development of the AIANY Zero Waste Design Guidelines to address the crucial role the design of buildings and cities play in achieving circular material loops.

Fascinated by the elegant multifunctional designs found in nature, Clare has just completed her Biomimicry Professional Certification. She is the founder of Woven, a consultancy which applies knowledge of ecosystem transformations to urban material systems. Clare is also Co-Chair of AIA NY’s Committee on the Environment and Sustainability Coordinator for her local food cooperative.
