Tom Wilcock leads Arup’s Advanced Technology and Research practice in New York. He is an expert in the analysis of extreme events including blast and earthquake loading and has a breadth of experience in structural design. Tom has worked extensively on the delivery of specialist structures, including transport infrastructure, offshore platforms, renewable energy installations and super high-rise buildings. A few of his notable projects include Torre BBVA-Bancomer and the New International Airport both in Mexico City and the New York Wheel in Staten Island. Alongside his project work Tom has helped pioneer the use of experiential design in structural engineering – developing bespoke simulations to help clients feel the movement of buildings and bridges while they’re still on the drawing board.
