Date Details

NYCxDESIGN’s fall activation, Design Pavilion, served to kickstart the months of preparation that lead up to the NYCxDESIGN Festival 2024.

By highlighting architecture and sustainable building materials, these installations drew attention to a vision of sustainable and ethical practices through design, while showcasing NYCxDESIGN’s role in uniting and energizing New York City’s design community and its global influence.

As studies in material strength and sustainability, the 2023 Design Pavilion installations were created to foster community gathering and idea-sharing.

Additionally, a digital projection on The Podium at the World Trade Center made a bold statement on social and civil liberties, promoting national healing.

After debuting in NYC, the installations were repurposed to travel for ongoing impact.

These structures will be shared around the world virtually and in-person spreading the message of Open to the Sky.

Design Pavilion is partnering with leading designers, architects and artists from around the world to design and build these structures, offering the opportunity for communities to enjoy and join in a safe, open-air gathering.

Design Pavilion will host educational and experiential activities for children and will engage students and the public-at-large of all backgrounds in design thinking and creative projects to share the important role design plays in shaping our future.
