Shawn Martinbrough is the author of “How to Draw Noir Comics: The Art and Technique of Visual Storytelling”, published by Random House and reprinted in several languages. He is a critically acclaimed creator/artist whose DC Comics, Marvel, Dark Horse, Skybound/Image projects include ‘Batman: Detective Comics’, ‘Luke Cage Noir’, ‘Captain America’, ‘The Black Panther’, ‘Hellboy’ and ‘Thief of Thieves’ written by Robert Kirkman.
Shawn has co-created characters featured in the films, ‘Deadpool’, ‘Justice League’, the animated ‘Batman: Gotham Knights’ and the FOX television series ‘GOTHAM’ and ‘The GIFTED’.
Shawn's is the artist of ‘Prométhée 13:13’ presented by ComiXology and French publisher Delcourt and a featured contributor to the September issue of Vanity Fair, guest edited by renowned journalist and writer, Ta-Nehisi Coates.
Shawn is currently writing a two part ‘Red Hood’ story for DC Comics. The story revisits the Harlem inspired neighborhood of ‘The Hill’ and introduces multiple, diverse characters to the Batman/Gotham Universe.
He is illustrating ‘Like Lava In My Veins’, a children’s book written by multi-award winning and New York Times best-selling author Derrick D. Barnes and publisher Nancy Paulsen Books/Penguin.
Shawn is also currently writing and illustrating his first creator owned graphic novel for the new Abrams Books imprint Megascope, founded by NYTimes bestselling author John Jennings. The noir, jazz themed thriller is set in contemporary New York and Paris.
